After the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors failed to vote on the Local Food Hub project, a local foundation that had offered to match all municipal dollars raised has offered the project $50,000 in outright support and another $50,000 in matching funds to any other philanthropic dollars the organizers raise!
In a matter of a week an additional $62,000 was raised. The Local Food Hub now has donated office space at the Main Street Market and will be sending out fundraising letters to the community.
They are in the process of compiling a Local Food Resources List, which is also one of the goals of the Food and Agriculture subgroup of Transition Blue Ridge.
